I removed these additions, and for a month or so the pi seemed to be running smoothly. * I had a static IP address reservation for the pi configured in `/etc/nf`. For instance, my phone still cannot access network services on the pi until I issue a ping from pi -> phone. * after pinging from pi -> laptop, the problem is only fixed accessing the pi from that one laptop device. * After pinging from pi -> laptop, the `arp -a` output on my laptop looks better: `? (192.168.1.100) at b8:27:eb:fa:c5:5f on en0 ifscope ` * After plugging into the pi with a keyboard and monitor, if I ping from the pi to my laptop, afterward my laptop is able to ssh onto the pi and hit the pi's web server. But then it comes back within a few days or a few weeks. * when this issue comes up, if i restart the pi or restart my router, the issue is fixed. Things that make the problem go away (temporarily) * If i plug in a keyboard and monitor directly to the pi, i can verify that the pi has network access. * running `arp -a` on my laptop shows this output regarding the pi: `? (192.168.1.100) at (incomplete) on en1 ifscope ` * I can no longer hit webpages on a webserver I have running on the pi from any device on my network * I can no longer ssh to the pi from any device on my network My raspberry pi has the IP address 192.168.1.100. I've been experiencing the same problems on my raspberry pi 3B+.īasically if I continuously run my raspberry pi, after several days to several weeks, the problem starts. Also, I'm using an Apple Time Capsule (the tall one) for my WIFI router, in case that is a commonality.ĭoes anyone have any other info on this bug? Have they seen in on Debian, or is this just an RPi problem? Has anyone submitted this as a bug? Even if setting the static IP address in the router fixes the problem, I'd like to continue to experiment with this bug to see what the root cause is and whether or not it can be fixed. I'm also maintaining an OpenVPN connection from the RPi out to a server - so I'm wondering if this is a commonality for anyone else seeing this problem. I've removed the static IP configuration from nf and will monitor the situation to see if the problem has been resolved. I was just about to cron up an nmap of the subnet from the RPi just to take a shotgun approach, before I saw this thread. That seemed to work, but stopped working when my laptop got a new IP address (I think). I've had this exact same problem with my RPi 3B for months and never quite googled upon this particular solution.įor a while, I thought I had solved the problem by setting up a cron on the RPi that periodically pinged my laptop (that I used to connect to the RPi).
